Dear Ms. Flor,

I cannot believe you’re gone.

You’re one of those teachers I never really appreciated until the day you lost your life and all the kindness you showered us flashed before my eyes. I know I was never able to properly thank you for all the effort you put into me and every single one of my batchmates and it saddens me that I’ll never be able to. I know you’re in heaven and you’re looking down on your children and the people you love and somehow I hope you hear my words of gratitude.

Thank you Ms. Flor for painstakingly going through each of our profiles and interviewing each of us every year. Thank you for planning each class encounter, our boy-girl interaction, integrated field trip, and job shadowing activity. Thank you for processing our college application papers and for helping us get into the universities of our dreams. Above all the planning and mechanical work, thank you for giving us big smiles and big hugs. Thank you for showing us you cared for us and believed in us. Thank you for standing up for us and fighting for us. We’ll always remember you for your big heart.

Although you left early and my heart mourns for Ate Via, Viancci and your little boy, I would like to assure you that your life was not wasted nor is it insignificant. You will forever be part of the lives of the 144 students of batch 2010 and you will live on in our hearts.

We love you, miss. Say hi to God for us. You’ll always be in our prayers and we hope you’ll look out for us.

With lots and lots of love and gratitude, Liang
